ERT SAR TO DEPLOY TO INDONESIA:  OCTOBER 2009:

Members of ERT SAR mobilized to deploy to the Earthquake in Indonesia this month.  At the eleventh hour seeing reports from the UN OCHA that the were well served with some 2 dozen SAR teams, over 700 rescuers and nearly 100 dogs ERT SAR make the executive decision to wait out and monitor the situation pending a requent for further SAR operators or Disaster Medical Teams. Thankfully it seemed that they were well served in the region so after monitoring the situation the team 'Stood Down.'  Our deepest regrets to those who suffered and lost loved ones as a result of this horrible tragedy & well done to the fast mobilization of all responders.

ERT Search and Rescue Tsunami Sri lanka Response Medical
In 2005 ERT SAR deployed a team to tsunami hit Sri Lanka in response to the disaster there. The team films portions of the mission and made a 45 minute DVD. In August 2009 - on requests to see shorter clips online, it was split into two videos of less than 10 minutes each. Part 1 is the Pre-Hospital Medical and Trauma Training given there and also a clip of a day spent working for International Doctors, with local Police translating, in a minor injuries clinic.

We used the Anastacia song "Heavy on my heart" at the begining and tried to time it with the picture edits. Thank you all for supporting our work and the work of all disaster and medical responders.

Members of ERT Search & Rescue did one of their regular fitness tests (this was the enhanced which the 20 push up, 30 crunches, wind sprints, run, toe touch and body carry at the end.)

The reason is it called the 'fun' version is during the session members participated in a search and survival training component on the move where powers of observation are tested along side what youcan eat in the wilds and how to survival in the wilderness.  (Here Paul is talking about wild foods like mushrooms on one of the brief stops along the way!)
